Abby and Alex had a beautiful August wedding at The High Five GR in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. These two met through a mutual friend from Calvin University in 2018. After their first date, they spent countless weekends traveling across Michigan to see each other and got engaged in 2021. Photography was a huge priority to Abby and Alex, so we fully took advantage of the time we had for portraits and the variety of locations we were able to use!
Wedding at High Five Grand Rapids
After getting ready at the venue, Abby and Alex did a first look and said private vows to one another. We ended up taking a lot of photos inside the venue because the indoor lighting at High Five GR is incredible! Abby and Alex also wanted outdoor photos with lots of greenery, so we went to a nearby park for more portraits and wedding party photos.
A major benefit of doing a first look on your wedding day is having more time before the ceremony to get important photos done. For Abby and Alex, we had plenty of time for photos of the two of them and were able to do wedding party photos before the ceremony too. During sunset, we stepped outside for quick photos of them walking downtown, but then they were able to get back to enjoy their reception.
For their decor, they went with neutral and blush tone colors. Their wedding ceremony set-up and reception tables were decorated with greenery and florals with white and light pink blooms. Simple, yet stunning! Once the reception started, they brought out fun light up sticks that their guests LOVED. Abby, Alex, and their guests went HARD on the dance floor all night! High Five GR Wedding Venue in Grand Rapids
The High Five GR is a wedding venue in Grand Rapids, MI and is ideal for couples picturing an indoor wedding and reception all in one location. The venue is in a renovated loft space with exposed brick, hardwood floors, and beautiful chandeliers. Like I mentioned earlier, the lighting inside the venue is incredible and that’s due to all the big windows that let natural light flood the space. It’s conveniently located in downtown Grand Rapids, so there are several nearby hotels and plenty of restaurants around for any traveling guests to enjoy!
From start to finish Abby and Alex’s wedding day had such a good energy and I loved being a part of it!
