I still can’t believe I took these photos from this Amalfi Coast elopement in Positano Italy! I met up with Teresa and Connor in the small village of Positano which is on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Teresa and Connor just got married in Germany and were honeymooning in this area of Italy. When they saw I would be in Positano in October they reached out on Instagram and we scheduled a photo session. They brought their wedding attire on the trip, so we could take elopement style portraits of them!
Elopement on a Boat in Positano
Originally, we planned to take photos on the beach, but it was insanely busy and full of tourists. Instead, we made a last-minute decision to rent a private boat. It was SO WORTH IT!
The boat took us out into the bay and we had the town of Positano in the background. We started with casual photos of them on the boat. Then Teresa changed into her wedding dress and Connor put on his suit. As the sun started to set, the lights from the town on the coastline were popping off in the background!
The great thing about being on the boat is that we had our own space and didn’t have to deal with tourists in the background or even nearby in the photos. Plus, the captain of the boat could position it however we wanted!
About an Amalfi Coast Elopement in Positano
Teresa and Connor’s session has me dreaming of coming back for a full wedding or elopement in Positano, Italy! If you’re thinking of eloping on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, here are a few things to know:
- The Amalfi Coast is a coastline that covers 34 miles along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula. Tall cliffs, stunning beaches and 13 unique colorful seaside towns border the coast line, like Amalfi and Positano.
- Italy’s train system does not take you directly to Positano. For example, you can fly into Rome and take the train to Naples. From Naples you can take a train to Sorrento and then from there arrange a bus ride or private car to get you the rest of the way. Just one idea of many options!
- Peak season on the Amalfi Coast is during the summer months. July and August is exceptionally busy! So for planning an elopement, early spring/summer or early fall would be more ideal!
- Many of the towns are built into cliffsides, so be prepared to climb a LOT of stairs! The cobblestone streets can be super narrow and aren’t able to accommodate cars in many areas.
- Positano has so many incredible options when it comes to where to stay. You can rent a private villa or book your stay at a hotel or resort! Many of the resorts offer wedding packages too!
This session on the Amalfi coast was a dream! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to photograph in dream locations with the best couples like Teresa and Connor!
