There’s just something about an Ovation Chicago Wedding that feels instantly cinematic, the downtown skyline, the warm industrial light, and that effortless Chicago cool that comes through in every moment. Alison & Anthony leaned all the way into that vibe with film snippets, classy city portraits, and a vintage Rolls Royce that honestly made the whole day feel like a scene from an old Hollywood romance! I actually met these two at Meyer & Ivan’s wedding, so walking into their day felt like a little reunion, familiar faces, fun energy, and such an easy, natural connection from the second we started shooting!
Getting Ready, Soft Glam, City Views & the Best Energy
The morning started with the dreamiest natural light pouring into the room, and Alison surrounded by her girls in matching navy satin getting-ready sets. They were hyping her up from the jump, dancing on the bed, laughing nonstop, and just setting the tone for the rest of the day. Alison’s look was soft, modern, and glowy, and the film shots from this part of the morning hit so differently, real grain, real movement, real emotion. Meanwhile, Anthony was just a few floors away, getting ready with his guys. The whole morning felt calm but electric in that “today is the day” kind of way!
First Look & Portraits, City Views & a Vintage Rolls Royce Moment
Their first look was one of those moments where you can literally feel the energy shift. The second Anthony turned around, he lit up in a way that felt so genuine and emotional, and Alison looked editorial-level stunning in her beaded gown. After that, we headed out into downtown Chicago for portraits, using the clean architecture lines, the bridges, and all that gorgeous city texture as our backdrop. And then… the vintage Rolls Royce entered the chat.
This car added instant movie-scene energy to everything. Alison leaning against the side of the Rolls with her veil catching the breeze? A moment. Anthony opening the door for her with that big grin? A moment. Them sitting inside the car like the closing frame of a classic romance film? A moment. Chicago gave us perfect weather, soft light, and the kind of atmosphere that makes editorial portraits feel completely effortless!
The Ceremony, Warm, Intentional, and Completely Them
Once we arrived for their Wedding ceremony, the space was glowing. Ovation has this beautiful mix of industrial architecture and warm ambient light that creates such an inviting feel. Their ceremony design included navy accents, airy florals, and soft draping that made the space feel modern and intentional without trying too hard. Their ceremony was heartfelt, sweet, and so authentically “them.”
Fun And Lively Wedding Reception
If the ceremony was emotional and intimate, the reception was an absolute party. Ovation turns into this incredible warm-lit, brick-walled celebration space once the lights dim, and their guests wasted zero time getting the dance floor going. We had speeches that were both hilarious and tear-filled, an iconic cake-cutting moment, and a dance floor that stayed full all night. The film shots from the reception are some of my favorites, flash, motion blur, and that chaotic-fun energy that makes you want to jump in and start dancing with them. It was the perfect ending to a day already packed with story, style, and so much love!
