Elle and Lucas’ boho wedding at the Santa Barbara Courthouse was a total California dream wedding with portraits on the beach and a rooftop wedding reception. This was a destination wedding for both sides of the family attending the wedding and everyone enjoyed a February getaway to the west coast!
Elle is my husband Charlie’s cousin, so this was a super fun and special wedding to photograph. I actually photographed Elle’s twin sister’s wedding in Seattle in 2022! Elle loved the warm tones, boho vibes, and vintage feel of the photos I delivered to her and Lucas! If you’re a photographer these were edited with my new presets the Creamy Dreamy preset pack!
After Elle and her father had their first look we headed to the beach for her first look with Lucas! Lucas had such a sweet reaction to seeing Elle in her dress! We walked along the beach for some portraits before heading to the courthouse.
Garden Wedding at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse
The Santa Barbara County Courthouse is hands down one of the prettiest courthouses I’ve ever seen! During their portraits, we took time to walk around the property and took photos that showcased the gorgeous Spanish architecture of the courthouse.
The county courthouse is a popular Santa Barbara wedding venue for civil ceremonies, elopements, and full weddings because of the beautiful setting. Elle and Lucas’ wedding took place in the Sunken Gardens. The county’s website here has all the essential information about reserving a date, guest limits, pricing, and obtaining a marriage license!
Wedding Reception at Moxi The Wolf Museum
After the ceremony, everyone headed to the wedding reception at Moxi, The Wolf Museum. Elle and Lucas’ reception took place on the rooftop of the Moxi which is stunning! It has views of the Santa Barbara cityscape and features a beautiful ocean blue dance floor. They kicked off their reception entrance with a champagne tower pour and then we did portraits on the rooftop! After toasts and formal dances, Elle changed into a sleek reception party dress! There was an elevator at the museum, so of course we took some sultry photos in the elevator. Elle and Lucas rejoined the party and spent the night dancing and celebrating with their people!
