5 Indoor Location Ideas

I’m so excited to share my favorite ideas for indoor photoshoot locations! (And I put some Michigan photography locations in here too)

There’s so many reasons you might shoot indoors: cold weather, newborn sessions, or maybe your client just wants indoor photos!!

Do you struggle to find indoor photo locations? I know I do. No matter where you’re located, here are photo location ideas for shooting indoors.

A Coffee Shop

Find a coffee shop with good windows, order some drinks, and take some cute pictures!

It’s always a good idea to check with the shop beforehand to see if they’re ok with you snapping pictures, and make sure you order a drink so you’re not just using them for their space.

I love to put my couples in front of a window, and you can even play around with shooting outside through the window too!

Go get some food

Everybody loves food, right? Try incorporating food into your sessions by hitting up your clients favorite restaurant or dessert place! This makes the photos super personal to your clients, plus it’ll add uniqueness to the photos.

For me, I’d love to go get tacos with Charlie & have our photos taken! That sounds like the BEST session for me.

A Greenhouse

You can find lots of greenhouses for photos, and they’re perfectly lit for photos too.

Try finding local greenhouses & asking them if it’s okay for you to come take photos – you could even go to Home Depot or Lowes!

I love Greenhouses because the plants offer an outdoor vibe without having to go outdoors!! It’s a win/win.

Rent an Airbnb

You can find super cute airbnbs for an in-home session! It’s best to plan this a few weeks in advance, because the best places will get booked up first.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can book multiple sessions in one day to get the most out of your time at the Airbnb 🙂

Plus, you’ll get a mini-vacay out of it & get to stay there overnight.

Rent a Studio for the day

Get on google + look up hourly studio rentals near you! You’d be SO surprised how many places offer hourly rentals for super cheap.

I love the look of studio photos, and most studios come with furniture & other props to make the space look more homey.

This is a great option if you don’t want to drop the cash on an Airbnb, but still want that in-home vibe that an Airbnb can offer.

If you’re local to Grand Rapids, I love GR Studio Space and West End GR!

Set up something at home

I’ve seen about 10,000 videos about people making in-home studios using a paper back drop, some props, and good lighting. If you’re looking for a way to take photos during the colder months of the year – try this one out!

You can literally order a paper back drop from Amazon, and set it up anywhere with good lighting. If you don’t have good natural light, you can also purchase lighting setups to give your lighting the same effect!!
