Presley and Kyle’s wedding day had all the boho, intimate, forest wedding vibes they hoped for. They got married in the woods along Lake Michigan at Kirk Park Lodge and then headed into Holland, MI for their reception. Presley is a close friend of mine, so it was really special to document their wedding day! When planning the wedding, Presley knew she wanted a small, forest elopement feel, but also wanted to celebrate with a lot of people. They opted to do a smaller ceremony with a large reception after to have the best of both worlds.
Lake Michigan Forest Wedding at Kirk Park
Wedding at Kirk Park Lodge
Their wedding ceremony was at Kirk Park Lodge which borders Lake Michigan and is about a 40-minute drive west of Grand Rapids. It was the ideal venue for a small Lake Michigan forest wedding. The park area is able to be rented from May through early September for a fee.
For their wedding ceremony, Presley and Kyle used the deck right in front of the lodge. Only a small group of immediate family and bridal party members were at the ceremony, so the deck was the perfect amount of space. After they said “I Do”, we took family and wedding party photos at the lodge.
Next, we headed into the woods and out to the beach for Presley and Kyle’s portraits. Around the lodge is a wooded area that gave us the “in the forest” look Presley wanted. And a short walk through the woods led us to the sandy and beautiful beach along Lake Michigan.

Boho Wedding Details
I was obsessed with Presley’s wedding dress! The colorful details and flowy fabric was so her! Paired with Kyle’s light blue suit, they really stood out whether we were tucked in the woods or out on the beach. They kept things simple with their wedding reception decor and had various wildflowers on the tables in cute, unique glasses. A few fun details that guests enjoyed were the giant crossword puzzle with questions about the couple and their guestbook of vintage postcards for people to sign. I love seeing the different ways couples add details into their wedding that represent them!
Wedding Reception at CityFlats Hotel in Holland, MI
After portraits on the beach at Kirk Park, we headed into town for their reception at the City Flats Hotel. Their reception was all about celebrating with friends and family, so we made sure they spent most of their time doing just that! Of course we had to do a few sunset photos on the rooftop patio. Then Presley and Kyle spent the night hanging out and dancing with their people!
