Emily and Ben’s Greenhouse Wedding at Downtown Market Grand Rapids couldn’t have been more perfect! Their wedding had a minimalist vibe with neutral colors and simple decor. The groomsmen and bridesmaids wore black and the flowers were white with lots of greenery! Their color and decor choices truly allowed the natural beauty of the greenhouse to show off!
Emily and Ben actually met in kindergarten. Their paths crossed again in high school and they stayed friends in college despite attending different universities. One summer they both studied abroad in Spain and aligned their schedules to travel around Europe together afterwards. Traveling through seven countries over 3 weeks was a lot of time for two people who were “just friends”. When they returned home they immediately started dating! After college they moved to Chicago for a brief time, but have lived in Grand Rapids ever since! They love traveling, camping, farmers markets, and hanging out with their friends and family!
Wedding at Downtown Market Grand Rapids
Emily and Ben did a first look and then we knocked out their portraits before their ceremony. We built in plenty of time to go to a few of my go-to downtown Grand Rapids locations for their wedding portraits. During their portraits, they randomly asked if we could visit Emily’s grandma’s condo nearby for a quick photo. That’s where Emily’s parents eloped and so we took photos of them on the same window sill that her parents took their wedding photos. The best part was discovering that her grandma’s condo had an AMAZING rooftop! I’m so in love with the photos we were able to capture up there with incredible views of downtown Grand Rapids!

Not only is Downtown Market one of my FAVORITE Grand Rapid Wedding Venues, it’s also where Charlie and I got married. Photographing Emily and Ben’s wedding at Downtown Market further affirmed why I love this Grand Rapids wedding venue! You can easily have your full wedding day from ceremony through reception all in one place.
Emily and Ben’s ceremony was in the Greenhouse and then their reception was in the banquet room. The indoor lighting here is a DREAM and makes indoor portraits and family photos a breeze! Plus, you need minimal decor if you use the Greenhouse because of all the beautiful plants filling the space. I could keep going, but I’ll let Emily and Ben’s wedding photos at Downtown Market speak for themselves!
